Bopanna/Qureshi bring home the doubles title

After less than an hour of play, it was clear that Rohan Bopanna and Aisam-Ul-Haq Qureshi were going to win the doubles title in this year's If Stockholm Open. They clearly defeated Marcelo Melo and Bruno Soares in the finals with a score of 6-1, 6-3.

In today's double finals Bopanna/Qureshi were clearly the better pair on the court. They managed to break the opponent's serve four times and held their own serve throughout the match. The Indian-Pakistani pair won the first set easily, 6-1. With the score of 3-3 in the second game Bopanna/Qureshi broke the Brazilian’s serve once again and won the set 6-3. With the victory, they are now one step closer to the ATP finals.

“Bopanna and Qureshi were the better players from the first to the last ball today. They initiated quite early in the game and Melo/Soares couldn’t quite hang with the pace,” said Tournament Director Thomas Johansson.

After the game Aisam-Ul-Haq Qureshi thanked his partner and the support of the Pakistanis in the audience.

“We hope to come back next year and win the title again,” said Aisam-Ul-Haq Qureshi after the game.
