Melo/Soares winners in Stockholm
Melo/Soares took home the trophy in the doubles tournament after 6-7, 7-5 (10-6) against Lindstedt/Zimonjic in a super tiebreak after a nerve wrecking final.
This Sunday was an extraordinary final day for the If Stockholm Open tournament, starting off with the doubles final.
In their first tournament together, Robert Lindstedt and Nenad Zimonjic fought all the way to the finals at Lindstedts home ground where they met the already established Brazilian couple Marcelo Melo and Bruno Soares. The entire match was extremely even all the way through. The Swedish/Serbian couple managed to tie-break in the first set while Melo/Soares were stronger in the second set and managed to win 7-5.
The match proceeded to a super tie-break, whereby the attuned Brazilians were a tad stronger for the Swedish hope and his Serbian colleague. The final score was 10-5 which meant that the Brazilian pair could revenge last years’ loss in the doubles final at If Stockholm Open.
