Berdych keeps cool - meets Almagro in the semi
Tomas Berdych defeated Michail Youzhny after a very well played match at The Royal Tennishalls’ centre court.
Second seed Czech Berdych won the first set, 6-3, thanks to a steady serve and characteristic heavy forehand stroke. The second set advanced into a tough battle between the hard hitting Berdych and the elegant Youzhny. Berdych, tranked 6:th in the world, had to work hard to win. The second set advanced to tie break where Berdych showed class and won, 7-2.
On Saturday’s semifinal, Berdych is set against Spaniard Nicolas Almagro. This is going to be a very exciting game, not only for a place in If Stockholm Open’s final, but also full of prestige because the Czech and Spaniard are to face each other in the Davis Cup final in November, whereby there is a potential meet between Berdych and Almagro.
